How to Find Your Kibbe Body Type
Finding your Kibbe body type means reading four things about yourself honestly, then confirming them. Here’s the process.
1. Assess your vertical line
Stand in front of a full-length mirror or photo. Do you read long and elongated, petite and compact, or moderate? This is your vertical line, and it’s the first fork in the road — long lines point toward Dramatic and Natural, petite toward Gamine and Romantic. See how to measure your vertical line.
2. Read your bone structure
Look at your shoulders, wrists, jaw and overall frame. Are your bones:
- Sharp and narrow? → Dramatic
- Broad and blunt? → Natural
- Symmetrical and moderate? → Classic
- Small and delicate? → Romantic
- Small but contrasting? → Gamine
3. Judge your flesh and curves
Is your body taut and lean, or soft and rounded? Are your curves minimal, moderate, or a pronounced hourglass? Soft flesh pulls you toward the “Soft” versions of each family, and toward Romantic.
4. Look at your facial features
Faces matter in Kibbe. Sharp, defined features add Yang; soft, rounded features add Yin. This is the part a camera struggles with, which is why a good test asks a few targeted follow-up questions.
5. Take the test, then verify
Self-assessment is a starting point, not the finish line. Take the Kibbe body type test for a calibrated result, then verify it against full-length photos of yourself in fitted clothing. If two types feel close, our side-by-side comparisons are built for exactly that.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Typing by weight or size. Kibbe is about bone structure and balance, not numbers. Gaining or losing weight doesn’t change your type.
- Forcing a favourite. Wanting to be Romantic doesn’t make you one — read what’s actually there.
- Confusing height with vertical line. A tall person can read compact, and a shorter person can read long.
- Overthinking one feature. Your type is the overall balance, not a single trait.
